This archive/directory contains all information required to build and use
a LOW COST 8051 in-circuit emulator:

8051 In-circuit Emulator Kit - Files:

   README.TXT - This file
ICE.TXT - Detailed documentation on the emulator
ICE.DWG - Schematic drawing of the emulator
ICEHOST.DWG - Drawing of the host interface cable
ICEHEAD.DWG - Drawing of the emulation header cable
ICEPICT.DWG - Suggested component and switch layout.

8051 ICE parts list:

   Qty Description
   --- -----------
    1 DS5000/2250/2250T microcontroller IC
    1 7805 +5V regulator IC
    1 MAX-232 5V RS-232 driver IC
    1 11.059 Mhz crystal
    1 B561 transistor *
1 40 Pin DIP header & ribbon cable assembly
    1 RJ45 8-conductor socket & cable assembly
    5 10uf 16v capacitor
    1 330 ohm 1/4w resistor
    1 1K ohm 1/4w resistor
    2 10K ohm 1/4w resistor
    1 100K ohm 1/4w resistor
    1 Light Emitting Diode
1 STDT Center Off toggle switch
    1 DPDT toggle switch
    2 SPST toggle switch
    1 N.O. Pushbutton switch
 * B561 was chosen because it was in my junkbox, virtually any general
purpose small-signal PNP transistor will work.

Bypass capacitors should be placed across power rails or all IC's.

A complete schematic diagram for an 8031 in-circuit emulator is contained in
the file ICE.DWG. You may view/print it with my MICROCAD drawing package:

MICROCAD ICE /D <- View on VGA monitor
MCPRINT ICE LASER <- Print on HP laserjet series (LPT1)
MCPRINT ICE EPSON <- Print on EPSON dot matrix (LPT1)

MICROCAD is available "free" from my WEB PAGE and DEMO disks, as part
of the EMBEDRAW package. For details on editing the drawing, or printing
it to devices attached to different ports, see the MICROCAD documentation.

The user documentation for the 8051 ICE is contained in the file: ICE.TXT
